How do I separate without hurting anyone?

First, I'd like to tell you something that WILL be of help to you. It also may be of help in MANY ways. I am a 20+ yr. sober alcoholic. I was married to 2 ex husbands who also are alcoholics. I went to BOTH AA & Alanon for help for myself. I've often said AA saved my life, Alanon saved my sanity. I feel you would get so much help if you would just give Alanon a try. Call the 800# for alcohol & ask for the next closest mtg. to you & GO. They WILL help you! They are there to help families who live with an alcoholic such as you are. How well I know exactly what you're referring to! I lived with the same situations. You do NOT want your child affected by his drinking. Believe me, it WILL. I have 3 adult children & my ex husband abused my middle adult son who to this day is paying dearly for the way he treated him mentally & physically. Yes, you are so rite in putting your child a priority. Don't please subject him/her to alcoholism! I HIGHLY recommend you go to an Alanon mtg. & you will get ANY question you want to ask whoever you choose to ask. Your husband doesn't think, alcohol thinks for him! You'll never win against alcohol...I DO SO wish you all the best...GO...:)
